REPORT OF ICT WORKSHOP


Workshop on information communication technology was organized at NSS training college ottapalam on 21st august 2017.The program was inaugurated by our beloved principal Dr.lakshmi .k. nair and chaired by Dr.Ambili Aravind,HOD .Both welcomed all students of 1st M.Ed.Program was facilitated by our beloved Professor Dr.K.Sajan.This workshop was a seven day programe .The programme was a huge successful one.Even though we had a very little knowledge on computer applications we could do all the works in a better way.From this workshop we got a good awarness about computer softwares and applications.Each day was very interesting and informative.Following are our works done on this workshop:

PREPARING A WORD DOCUMENT

This takes us half a day to prepare a word document and converting it to a apa format.we were very sure about this work that this will be very useful for our future academic works especially during our dessertation completion.our Proffessor Sajan sir helped us a lot in correcting each sections and claryfying our doubts.

 PREPARING A POWER POINT

Preparing a power point was quite interesting one.to include images,videos etc. made it interesting and creative.this gave us a wide understanding about presenting a power point
editing image,audio file and video files:our recorded audio was edited using audacity software and video files was also edited using suitable softwares such as video cutters.Images are also downloaded and then edited.

PREPARING AN EXCEL SHEET

An excel sheet was prepared by us according to the guidance of our teacher.we had entered the data such as time taken for each item in a day.also total time taken for each item during 6 days.

PREPARATION OF BLOG

This was the time user because most of the time we spent was on preparing and posting on blog.we all had posted our ICT seminar topics on our blog as everyone could see and go through our posters.we have tried to make our blogs very attractive and user friendly so that everyone could easily access it .
Data entered in excel sheet was ploted using two graphs:
1.column chart and
2.pie chart

LMS AND CMS ,ONLINE LEARNING AND BLENDED LEARNING

Learning Management Systems





   Learning management system (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation tracking, reporting and delivery of electronic education or educational courses also called e-Learning courses or training programs. Most LMSs are web based to facilitate access.
   LMS helps the instructor to deliver material to the students, administrator tests, and other assignments, track student progress and manage record keeping.


Uses of LMS
§ An LMS delivers and manages instructional content and handles student registration online course administration and tracking and assessment of student work.
§ Some LMS help identify progress towards learning or training goals.
§ LMS are often used by regulated industries for compliance training.
§ LMS allow us to create distribute and track training anywhere or any device.
§ LMS allow anyone to create, track, manage and distribute learning materials of any kind.
§ Traditional application of an LMS is an educational institution. LMS have been used for several years to deliver course where in schools and popularized e-learning
§ In last few decades, companies have been using LMS to deliver training to employees and customers’ .Companies such as health care, hospitals, medical device companies, pharmaceutical or Biotech companies etc.

Course Management System (CMS)
Introduction
   A course management system is a collection of software tools providing an online environment .A CMS typically include a variety of online tools and environment such as an area for faculty posting of class materials such as course syllabus and handouts an area for student posting of paper and other assignments.
Uses
·         It is an integrated email tool allowing participants to send announcement email message to the entire class or to a subset of the entire classes.
·         An area of a student posting of papers and other assignments.
·         A gradebook where faculty can record grades and each student can give his or her grades.
·         A chat tool allowing synchronous communication among class participants.

Online Learning
   Online learning provides the goal of making educational content available to a global audience .It has the ability to offer training anytime, anywhere. Computer and Internet connectivity are essential for online learning.
   Weather the trainees are all together in a classroom or scattered all over the country in different times. Both the ones they can still tap into the same course material and at a time that's convenient to them.






Benefits of Online Learning
·   Online courses offers choice and flexibility
Online education allows students to choose from a wide variety of schools and programs available in the online environment. Online courses give the flexibility to spend time with work, family, and friends and significant others or to do any other activity. Online education offer flexibility for students who have other commitments. People with continually changing work schedules or people who make frequent business trips, parent with small children, students caring for other or whose health prevents them from making to campus on a regular basis ,this method of course delivery is useful .
§ Online courses are convenient.
The biggest advantage of an online course is that classroom and instructor are available 24 hours a day. Only excuse for missing class is not getting online. Otherwise everything is available online. The user get announcement, access notes, review assignment, take practice quizzes, discuss, questions, chat with fellow students and study anytime. Other than certain due dates the learner can make his or her on schedule for completing the requirements of the course

Online learning can be even more accountable than traditional professional development because assignment, assessments, score activities, course completions and participant progress can be monitored online.

Many online education programs allow pupil to work at their own pace. The learner have a direct pipeline to the instructor via email and they can get their questions answered directly .Many students are not comfortable asking questions in class for fear of feeling stupid the Internet eliminate that fear. The teacher can provide individual attention by analyzing the learner performance.

Students enrolled in online programs network with peers from all over the nation. An online course provides an opportunity to get to know other student via Bulletin boards, chat rooms and mailing lists.

The learner who completes an online course will be able to include email and browsing as technical skill on his or her resume. That gives the learner a definite advantage over someone who doesn't have these skills. Learning, how to get information via the Internet, open up a world or possibilities for their personal and professional life. Blended Learning
   Blended learning is an educational program (formal or informal) that combines online digital media with traditional classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some element of student control over time, place, path or pace. While students still attend “brick and mortar” schools with a teacher present, face -to -face classroom practices are combined with computer- medicated activities regarding content and delivery. Blended learning is also used in professional development and training settings.
   Blended learning methods can also result in high levels of students’ achievement more effective than face to face learning.
